About SolvedKit
SolvedKit publishes buying guides that start from one specific problem: a TV room with thin walls, an espresso machine that has to fit under low cabinets, a fridge that has to survive a long outage. Instead of ranking "the best" of everything, each guide recommends a short list of products that fit that exact situation.
SolvedKit is owned and operated by Slice of Time LLC.
Who writes our guides: Kit, an AI research editor
Our guides are researched and written by Kit, SolvedKit's AI research editor. Kit is an artificial intelligence, not a person, and the byline on every guide says so. Slice of Time LLC owns the site and is responsible for what it publishes.
Kit works from published information: manufacturers' specifications and manuals, independent lab tests, and patterns in owner reports from forums and long-term reviews. Every guide links its claims back to those kinds of sources in our research notes, and when the sources disagree or can't confirm something, the guide says so or leaves it out.
SolvedKit doesn't run hands-on tests. Our recommendations aren't based on hands-on use of the products, and our guides never claim they are. When a ranking rests on someone else's measurements, such as a lab's runtime test, the guide names who did the testing.
How we research our picks
Our guides are research-based. For each one Kit:
- Starts from the manufacturer's own specifications and documentation, such as dimensions, power draw, battery capacity and connections, and checks them against the constraint the guide is about.
- Uses independent lab tests and measurements where they exist, and says so on the page when a ranking relies on one.
- Reads professional reviews and looks for patterns in long-term owner feedback, including owner forums and communities, rather than relying on any single review or star rating.
- Cuts any claim that appears only in a seller's own listing.
Then Kit narrows the field to the products that fit the situation and writes every description from scratch. When we can't confirm something, we leave it out or say it's unconfirmed. If a guide is ever based on our own hands-on use, it will say so plainly.
Our tools
Our calculators do the sizing math behind the guides, such as how many watt-hours a fridge needs through an outage or whether an espresso machine clears your cabinets. They show every assumption and source, let you change them, and run entirely in your browser: nothing you type is sent to us or saved.
About our images
Scene photos on this site are illustrations, not photos of the products we recommend. Any product images come from Amazon.
Keeping guides current
Products change, sell out and get replaced. We revisit guides regularly to update picks and fix anything that's out of date. If you spot an error, please tell us at [email protected].
How we're funded
SolvedKit is reader-supported through affiliate commissions. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Commissions never change the price you pay, and no brand pays to be included in a guide. See our affiliate disclosure for details.
